Contact lenses are a Basic for millions of people who use them to achieve the color of eyes who want to or to improve their vision and quality of life. They just require a minimum of effort and time to benefit and are very comfortable. But there are certain safety tips when using contact lenses that can not miss for the benefit of our health.

1- Always follow the instructions of your ophthalmologist:

Once the doctor prescribes the use of lenses and tells you that you can opt for the contact, be sure to follow the instructions it gives you about your care, cleaning and use. Some contact lenses are manufactured to be used only once, while others can last for weeks or months. It pays special attention to the instructions to prevent infections or problems in view caused by its misuse.

2- Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses:

It is a very basic advice, but you can forget many of us any morning when we have hurry and do not have much time. Remember that our hands are in contact with a large number of germs that can pass through the lens to your eye.

3- Do not share contact lenses:

Contact lenses, as well as makeup or brush teeth, should never share with anyone. We do not know the problems of health or hygiene that the other person has and we are putting our health at risk.

4- Save your contact lenses in cleaning solution:

Whenever you take off the lenses, store them in cleaning solution. It must be fresh and new, it always occupies clean solution. If they will be long stored, you must change the solution at least once a day. This Council is vital to maintain the hygiene of the lenses, since whenever we keep them they carry pollutants and can have bacteria that reproduce in the solution to spend much time there.

5-Clean your contact lenses thoroughly:

6- Remove your lenses before sleeping:

Your eyes need to be vented and if you have already spent much time with the lens, at least at night you must facilitate this rest. In addition, both your eyes and your lenses may become susceptible to dryness.

7- Update your lenses when necessary:

Some people have changes in the prescription of your lenses. If this is your case, go with your optometrist to acquire the contact lenses that meet the requirements. Sometimes, in an attempt to save money, avoid change and we can affect our eye health. In addition, don't forget to visit the ophthalmologist, at least twice a year.

8- Ventilate your contact lenses:

Part of the care of our eyes and our lenses is correct ventilation. If you stay awake for more than 10 hours and always use your contact lenses, try not to use them for at least one hour. This will allow that there is adequate ventilation and reduces the possibility that some bacteria and pollutants from damaging your eyes.

9- Never come in your contact lenses:

Swim using contact lenses may seem like something that does not cause any problem at first sight. But depending on the place where we swim, we can always find certain bacteria or germs that are difficult to remove the lens. Although initially they do not cause damage to our eyes, their proliferation can bring serious consequences.
